Performer bio
Juliana Heng is a stand-up comedian from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
They are the founder and comedy show producer of I Laugh KL Comedy Show, one of the founding members of Parti Komedi Rakyat (PKR) – a comedy troupe, and has been doing stand-up comedy since September 2017.
Juliana strives to be a comedian who gets real, talking about issues considered taboo in the Asian society.
They have performed in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand (Bangkok), and the United Kingdom (London, Nottingham, and Manchester).
Since the beginning of the lockdown era, Juliana has been performing online to audiences in 27 countries.
Before COVID times, they emerged as the finalist of Bangkok International Comedy Competition (BICC) 2019, KING GONG at The Comedy Store – London (December 2019), and BEAT THE FROG at The Frog and Bucket Comedy Club, Manchester (January 2020).
Juliana has performed in comedy and art festivals like Short + Sweet Festival 2018 & 2019 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Comedy For Change Festival 2019 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Plano Comedy Festival 2020 (Texas, USA), Retford Comedy Festival 2020 (England, UK), and District Queer Comedy Festival 2020 (Washington DC, USA).
In May 2020, Juliana debuted a 1-hour medley show, Walking On Spectrum, at The ADELAIDE FRINGE View, Australia. This show was subsequently played at The VIRTUAL FRINGE, New Zealand (August 2020) and ROCHESTER FRINGE FESTIVAL, USA (September 2020). This is a showcase of comedy, spoken word poetry, and storytelling of how they live with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
To date, Juliana has supported 5 international acts: Jocelyn Chia from Singapore & Ahmed Ahmed, Matt Davis, Mary E. Kennedy, and Kurt Braunohler from the USA.
